Volkswagen showcased the Passat Performance Concept at the Detroit Motor Show which features a 247bhp 1.8-litre turbocharged Volkswagen engine and a series of subtle styling tweaks. A set of 19-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights and LED taillights are the main updates, but buyers also get carbon-effect wing mirror housings, too. The interior is also top notch and it comes finished with two tone leather upholstery and some carbon interior inserts. The new engine for Volkswagen Passat is complemented by lowered sports suspension and a new electro-mechanical power-steering set-up. The 1.8-litre engine is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox and should allow for a 0-62mph time of just less than seven seconds. Volkswagen hasn’t confirmed whether this concept will make it into production but considering the Passat’s popularity, it will probably make an appearance on the roads in the near future.
