Many new ssuper cars have made their debut at Frankfurt Motor Show 2013, some are production models and some are concepts, here we review some of the top super cars of the show.
BMW i8
The production version of the BMW’s hybrid super car i8 has finally been launched here at Frankfurt. Its three cylinder turbo engine and the electric motor join to give similar performance as any other super car like Porche 911 or Audi R8. The i8 has become the most talked about car of the show thanks to its carbonfibre body, advanced power terrain technology and most of all the sleek looks. The price of the BMW’s super hybrid is also on a par with R8 rather than McLaren’s. Whether it looks beautiful or not it’s totally your decision however, it does remind of formula 1 cars from early 2000s and its aerodynamics are certainly superb.
Porsche 918 Spyder
The all new Porche 918 Spyder has been built by motorsport engineers and has a motorsport engine under the bonnet combined with the plug-in hybrid technology. The total power output is 887hp which might be a bit less than the McLaren’s P (918hp) and the Ferrari’s LaFerrari (963hp) however its impact on the environment is less than all of its rivals. Here, a question rises do the people who go for these sort of cars will really care about the ‘green’ factors? The 4.6 litre V8 engine has a power output of 612hp and adds an amazing sound to the stunning looks. It has a top speed of 212mph and 62mph sprint in just 2.8 seconds.
Ferrari 458 Speciale
The Ferrari 458 Speciale has been unveiled for the first time at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and is the most powerful V8 Ferrari yet by the Italian supercar manufacturer. Not only the engine has been tweaked but also a new traction control system and the interior of the 458 has received a lots of improvement making the 458 Speciale one of the greatest Ferraris so far. It has also been equipped with a new exhaust that makes it sound even roary. The top speed of the car hasn’t been announced yet however the 0-62mph time is 3.0 seconds,
It’s not just the 458’s engine that hass received some attention though, a new trick traction control system and interior details to die for carve this out as potentially one of the greatest Ferraris of all time. The ‘Speciale’ means special in Italian so this is a special version of a sports car which is not supposed to be cheap and it isn’t, getting one would set you back around £210,000.
Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse
The latest in the Lamborghini Gallardo line-up is the LP570-4 Squadra Corse that has been debuted at the Frankfurt. It is expected to be the last Gallardo in current shape (it has been ten years since the first Gallardo model was launched). It is powered by a 5.2 litre V10 engine which gives a power output of 570hp and rushes for 0 to 62mph is 3.4 seconds. The Squadra Corse will come with a price tag of around £200,000. The LP570-4 Squadra Corse failed to draw much attention, it might be because of the facts that it is a special edition of a run out model and for the price one can buy a more advanced Ferrari 458 or Maclarem 12C. But it sure is a car for those who adore Lamborghini badge, the aggressive looks and noise make you forget the price.
Aston Martin Vanquish Volante
The latest Volante by Aston Martin has been released at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Shoe 2013, this new Vantage Volante is totally made of carbonfibre and is powered by the same 6.0-litre AM11 V12 engine as the Vanquish Coupe. It gives a power output of 573hp and has a top speed of 183mph. It reaches from stationary to 62mph in 4.3 seconds and the roof folds in just 14 seconds if you are in a mood of enjoying nice summer weather. It has a price tag of £200,000.
