At its launch the new Skoda Octavia Engine will only be offered in two turbo petrol versions: a 1.2 litre 103bhp and a 1.4 litre 138bhp. An extremely efficient 89g/km Greenline version will join the range later this year, along with a 217bhp vRS hot hatch. The standard six-speed manual gearbox has a tall top gear that helps keep the Skoda Octavia engine superbly relaxed at motorway speeds. The interior is not made from hard plastics and the materials used are of a higher quality than the ones used in Ford Mondeo or a Mazda 6. Every model is equipped with user friendly touch-screen infotainment system and comes in three versions: S, SE and Elegance. The base model also comes equipped with alloy wheels, air-con, stability control, Bluetooth, DAB radio, seven airbags, six-disc CD changer and USB socket.
The Skoda Octavia has always been one of the most luxurious cars in its class, but this new model is the biggest and roomiest yet. It’s bigger than a Ford Focus and as big as a Ford Mondeo. It is based on the latest platform used in the Seat Leon and VW Golf but Octavia’s longer wheelbase separates it from these two cars. The new Skoda Octavia is £2000 more expensive than its predecessor, but the new Octavia is much better equipped than the outgoing model.
