Peugeot engine details, prices and other spec details for the all new 208 Gti hot hatch have been revealed. The 208 GTi has been launched as a successor to the 205 GTi. The engine for Peugeot 208 GTi is a 1.6L THP petrol unit with turbo that is capable of producing 200hp. The Peugeot 208 GTi engine can do a 0-62mph sprint in 6.8 seconds and returns the economy of about 46mpg. The carbon emissions are pretty low at 139g/km. The price starts at £18,895 and even the entry level model comes with seventeen inch alloys, red-coloured front and rear brake calipers, spoiler at the back, double tailpipes, rear parking sensors and a LED Daytime Running Lights. Inside the cabin it boasts part leather sports seats and DAB radio. The GTi’s engine is not different for the turbo MINI engine used to power the Cooper S and John Cooper Works. However the 200hp output lands it right in the middle of these two models. The main rivals of the Peugeot 208 GTi are Ford Focus ST, SEAT Ibiza Cupra and Renaultsport Clio.
