“The Mercedes among MPVs.” It is certainly a true statement because it is definitely both at the same time, a Mercedes-Benz and an MPV, but also because to a certain extent it’s likely one of most luxurious ways to shift a cluster of passengers and their belongings around. Mercedes-Benz V-Class has the capacity of eight people depending on the model trim. It has three trims with two wheel bases and three lengths, similarly the engine compartment has three options, and all these are turbo powered 2.1 litre four cylinder units.

The base model of Mercedes-Benz uses V 200 engine, that produces 136 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque, followed by a V 220 in the next trim which is capable of producing 163 hp and 280 lb-ft while a top-level unit is V 250 with power generation capacity of 190 hp and 325 lb-ft. The class leading V-Class trim claims the maximum pulling power in the current engine line-up as its preceding V6 turbodiesel unit, but it is almost 28 percent fuel efficient. Driving parameters are relatively different with the seven speed automatic transmission on all economical, comfortable, sporty and manual. First mode is relatively low on power but delivers greater efficiency. All engine trims are efficient and deliver fuel consumption of four cylinders. Efficiency comes from two-stage turbocharging, which has previously verified in several passenger car model series from the A-Class to the S-Class, and which has now been further improved specially for the MPV. These engines have CO2 emissions of 149 grams per kilometre; the V 220 CDI inhabits an ultimately leading position in the segment. The 2014 Mercedes V-Class van will be available for sale in European markets from March, with a limited model called the Edition 1.
