2012 Mazda 6

The 2012 Mazda 6 is the second model by Mazda after the split from Ford, the first was CX5 SUV. Unlike its predecessor it does not share its platform with Ford Mondeo. It is a well designed car. According to Mazda the shape is “the form of a predator crouched and ready to leap forward in an explosion of movement”. The Mazda 6 is available as a saloon or estate, its direct rival Mondeo has dropped the saloon already, as there is much more demand  of hatchback in this segment of the UK market.

The key feature of the 2.0 litre petrol engine is Mazda’s SkyActiv technology for excellent economy. It stores the kinetic energy from braking to power the electrical systems. Just as well that Mazda is promising a leap in refinement over the previous model, the only area where it was a little amiss. If Mazda can maintain the driving dynamics, lower noise levels and offer better economy, it will have a good product on its hands – however the bodystyle will be cause for concern.
